Hello Baby Cakes!

A few weeks ago, a coworker of mine had a baby.  Well, his wife did.  It's always hard trying to find gifts for the dads, especially if they are having a girl.  I was perusing Pinterest (once again) and came upon a baby diaper cake.  Well the link took me to diapers at Amazon.  That didn't help!!  So, I just went from the picture...

Super cute and fun for a guy, right?!
And this is what I came up with from the picture:

Items Used:
2 receiving blankets
1 pair of socks
1 bottle
2 bibs
50 or so diapers
Ribbon
1 paper towel cardboard
1 toilet paper cardboard
3 rubber-bands

It took about 30 min. to make.  It was a lot of fun!!

Have a great day and thanks for visiting!!

Wow!  I didn't realize it has almost been a year since I have posted!  Woops!

Since April 2011, I have visited family in Montana and Tennessee, family visited us here in Washington, ran two 5Ks, my sister graduated COLLEGE!, celebrated our 5 year anniversary (wow!), and had some wonderful days with Matt and Lola.  It was a great year!

I have also discovered the lovely website, Pinterest!  There are tons of fun ideas for DIY projects for the home which is what this post is all about.  I discovered this project and fell in love with it.  At first I didn't have the colors I wanted, so I contacted my mother who has stock piles of scrap paper.  Thank goodness, because she had the perfect paper to macth my livingroom and paint!

I just bought a canvas from Michael's and used some wall paint I had laying around from when we painted our livingroom.  We bought samples from Lowe's, it was perfect for this project since I didn't need a lot to work with.  I used the foam brushes, which worked great!

One coat on!  I waited for the entire canvas to dry before adding another coat.

Cut 7 different patterns of paper, 2" x 3"

Then cut each piece into leaves.  I had some left over and cut some small ones for filler.

Placed each pattern down across from each other and just worked the patterns around each other.
Finally, got my glue gun ready and glued each leaf down.  The ones that hung over the canvas, I folded and glued so it had a "finished" look.

Done!  I love it!
